Concerts Coordinator

We are seeking an enthusiastic and outgoing Concerts Coordinator to join our dynamic and supportive music performance team in delivering the expanding programme of performance activities at the University.

This is an exciting time to join our music performance team as we will be working very closely with the University’s new Centre for Music Performance (CMP).  The CMP is a newly established umbrella organisation that aims to increase the visibility, scale, ambition and reach of musical performance at Cambridge. In line with the University’s mission, the Centre will build on the all-round residential education that is a USP of the collegiate University, attending both to Cambridge’s aspiration to professional level performance and to its commitment to developing music performance for outreach, inclusion and wellbeing.

 As the Concerts Coordinator, you will provide essential administrative support ensuring the smooth running of concerts, performance workshops, masterclasses and the work of the ensembles. This position is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys a busy and demanding workload, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and has a passion for music-making. A flexible and innovative approach to your work is essential, along with creative flair and vision as well as excellent administration skills.

Salary: £21,000-£24,000 (depending on experience) pro-rata per annum (fixed term: the funds for this post are available for 12 months in the first instance)  

The post is offered part-time: 0.6FTE, working to a pattern to be agreed with your line manager.

Concerts and Marketing Assistant

This year, the Cambridge University Musical Society (CUMS) celebrates its 178th year. CUMS is made up of 8 high quality ensembles, including two orchestras, a wind orchestra, and a symphony chorus and chamber choir, and runs a weekly lunchtime concert series on Tuesdays. CUMS also has associate ensembles including a jazz orchestra and a new music ensemble.

Next year, there will be the challenges of post-pandemic performing but it is an exciting time as CUMS will be working very closely with the University’s new Centre for Music Performance (CMP). CUMS is seeking a Concerts and Marketing Assistant to support the Society’s marketing and fundraising work and to support the operations of the Cambridge University Orchestra and Cambridge University Sinfonia.

This is a great opportunity to gain experience in marketing, fundraising and arts management, learning from industry professionals and working with guest artists. Recent post-holders have gone on from CUMS to Aurora Orchestra, Royal Opera House, Britten Sinfonia and the Philharmonia Orchestra.

Salary: £15,000 per annum (fixed-term for 11 months, 37.5 hours per week) Start date: 1 September 2021.
