The CUMS Committee
Welcome to the Committee pages. This section of the website explains how the Society is run, and keeps members up-to-date with the Trustees and the Committee’s work. Committee members are always pleased to answer queries and to hear suggestions – please do feel free to get in touch.
How is CUMS run?
CUMS is a registered charity (number 1149534), and company limited by guarantee (number 08186921), with a Board of Trustees.
The Society is run on a day-to-day basis by the CUMS Management Committee. The Committee meets regularly during term-time and includes the Student President, Vice President, the President of each individual ensemble and the Conducting Scholars. The Society’s Executive Director and one or two industry professionals also attend the committee meetings to support and advise.
Each CUMS ensemble has its own student committee, which runs the ensemble’s rehearsals, concerts and social events. They are supported by the Development and Marketing Assistant, the Concerts Assistant, the Performance Assistant (a joint role with the Faculty of Music) and the Executive Director.
The Society’s Board of Trustees regularly meet with the Student President and Executive Director to offer guidance and support.
